“Noticing your body’s invitation through sensory cues to explore your emotions and preferences is the foundation to enacting decisions based on compassionate self-awareness that challenges conditioned beliefs that have outlived their purpose about who you are, how to interact with others, and what’s possible for your future.
When pressures to return to what’s been normal present themselves, pause to observe these cues mindfully, accept the reality of the situation, and respond based on your evolving identity and needs derived from situational awareness to embrace this new thing. Reconcile differences between answers to questions of Who have I been?, Who am I?, and Who will I be right now?. ”
Who am I?
I am Alysia W. McGlone, M.Ed., LCMHC, NCC (she/her), the founder of Embodied Moments Counseling Services, PLLC, an online mental health therapy practice based in Greensboro, North Carolina.
It is vital in my role as a therapist to lead with an acknowledgement of and response to the impact of our inseparable intersectional identities on how our challenges and opportunities for their resolution are perceived.
I feel a deep sense of gratitude for witnessing my clients’ stories and collaborating with them to make sense of what has happened, holding space for them to empower their self-agency, and reaching that bittersweet day when we agree it’s time to “graduate” from therapy.
Who do I help?
I provide support for persons of various intersectional ethnic/racial identities, religious/spiritual identities, economic class background, and sexual/gender identities, including those persons identifying as members of the African Diaspora (African-American, Black), Indigenous/Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI), LGBTQIA+, and differently abled (PWD) communities with respect for their varied lived experiences.
It takes incredible courage to witness your own story in the presence of another, to reclaim the parts of you that felt lost due to abuse, neglect, or maltreatment from others, as well as any regret, guilt, or shame from your own choices.
For adults who have experienced childhood (CPTSD) and or adult traumatic experiences (PTSD), seeking to cultivate a felt sense of calm and clarity in their priorities, I offer paced, collaborative, and evidence-based treatment that flexibly addresses the unique situations for each person I support. I also work with clients experiencing difficulties with beliefs underlying challenges, including but not limited to eating disorders/body image disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, and ADHD, and those that make it difficult to adjust when going through life transitions or managing responsibilities from multiple life and work roles.
How do I help?
Mind-body therapy models such as EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and DBT are ones I believe are most effective to address and resolve beliefs keeping us stuck in emotional, behavioral, and cognitive patterns that make it difficult to connect with ourselves and others, or reach our desired goals.

My Therapy Approach
Alysia W. McGlone, M.Ed., LCMHC, NCC licensed trauma-informed therapist in North Carolina.
I help adult individuals and groups understand themselves from present-day preferences instead of past limiting, core beliefs. I approach trust-building with clients through pacing - understanding that everyone's story is different and unpacking takes time and safety to address with appropriate coping skills once we really get to know each other.
Collaboration is key in my role as a therapist. You know yourself the best. When we work together, we translate your increased self-awareness into actions for emotional and social well-being.
