Meet Alysia W. McGlone, M.Ed., LCMHC, NCC
“Noticing your body’s invitation through sensory cues to explore your emotions and preferences is the foundation to enacting decisions based on compassionate self-awareness that challenges conditioned beliefs that have outlived their purpose about who you are, how to interact with others, and what’s possible for your future.
When pressures to return to what’s been normal present themselves, pause to observe these cues mindfully, accept the reality of the situation, and respond based on your evolving identity and needs derived from situational awareness to embrace this new thing. Reconcile differences between answers to questions of Who have I been?, Who am I?, and Who will I be right now?. ”
Who am I?
I am Alysia W. McGlone, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and founder of Embodied Moments Counseling Services, PLLC, based in Greensboro, NC. I provide trauma-informed, intersectional care, focusing on empowering clients through safe, collaborative therapeutic relationships to reach a place of confident healing.
I feel a deep sense of gratitude for witnessing my clients’ stories and collaborating with them to make sense of what has happened, holding space for them to empower their self-agency, and reaching that bittersweet day when we agree it’s time to “graduate” from therapy.
Who I Help: Culturally Responsive Trauma Therapy
I support clients managing conditions such as:
PTSD, Anxiety, panic
Depression/Mood Disorders
OCD
ADHD and executive dysfunction
Burnout, life transitions, and intersectional stressors
Clients in the recovery phase from Eating disorders and negative body image challenges
How We Work Together: Somatic & Mind-Body Modalities
Because trauma lives in the body, I integrate somatic and mind-body tools to bypass traditional "talk therapy" limitations:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing): Safely reprocessing traumatic memories.
Polyvagal Theory: Mapping your nervous system to foster safety and nervous system regulation.
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy): Building skills for emotional regulation and distress tolerance.
Fun Facts
Born and raised in Conover, North Carolina.
Singing, painting, drawing, crocheting, and being in nature are restorative hobbies and experiences I enjoy, whether independently or in community with supportive family and friends.
A not-so-secret skill of mine is creating curated playlists across genres: Gospel, R&B, Neo Soul, Rap/Hip-Hop, and more! Ask me who I have on rotation at the moment!
My Therapy Approach
I help adult individuals and groups understand themselves from present-day preferences instead of past limiting, core beliefs. I approach trust-building with clients through pacing - understanding that everyone's story is different and unpacking takes time and safety to address with appropriate coping skills once we really get to know each other.
Collaboration is key in my role as a therapist. You know yourself the best. When we work together, we translate your increased self-awareness into actions for emotional and social well-being.
